Lord of the Rings Animation Premiered 23 Years Ago

Friday, November 14th, 2008 MyToons

You shall not pass up this animated feature!

Most of you are no doubt familiar with Peter Jackson’s epic Lord of the Rings trilogy - but long before his fateful unveiling of The Fellowship of the Ring, fans were presented with Ralph Bakshi’s animated feature film on November 15, 1978, J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.

How do you think this early animated, rotoscoped film compares to Peter Jackson’s trilogy?

(And speaking of animation - or reanimation, rather - has anyone had to pleasure of viewing Peter Jackson’s Dead Alive? “Your mother ate my dog!!” - Classic.)

Get with the Times! Grand Prize Winner Allan Dye: NYC Trip Re-cap

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 MyToons

Get with the Times! Grand Prize Winner Allan Dye just returned from watching ADD Jane on Clear Channel’s video billboard in Times Square – here’s what he had to say about it:

“It was definitely a thrill, and it was hard to not be giddy about it. Every time it came on, I felt a sense of pride, and I was psyched that it came on so often! I stood on the risers a few times, either taking pictures or video to try to get the right images; I saw that people would take notice and watch for a minute and of course I’m thinking that I’ve interested them somehow. It’s definitely something I could get used to!”

Allan was able to capture some cool footage of Times Square (remember it’s live, so it’s a bit shaky), and was sure to snap a bunch of photos – you can see more at his blog.

Find out more about Allan’s trip and see what he has in store for the future.
