MyToons Launches Pirate Attack on La Villita
Online Animation Company Talks Like Pirates, Descends Upon San Antonio Natives in Pirate Garb in Accordance with National Talk Like a Pirate Day
SEPTEMBER 19, 2008 – SAN ANTONIO – A flotilla of pirates from MyToons.com, today launched a sneak attack on the city’s historic art village, La Villita. Setting sail from the Hyatt, the squadron of river boats and their menacing crews circled the inner-city before disembarking at the Arneson Theater Landing. The unruly band of pirates proceeded to “act piratey.” Sauntering and speaking loudly with bad grammar, they made their riverside assault on the beloved village en route to the city’s upscale urban ristorante and favored pirate haunt and galley, Luca, located in the historic Fairmount Hotel.
“We be pirates, we be!” exclaimed Paul “Blackbeard” Ford, Captain of the MyToons Crew. “We got no room for lily-livered scallywags! As the Gentlemen – and Wenches – o’ Fortune that we be, Pirate Day be our Fiddlers Green o’ the year! What with we bein’ the buccaneers that we arrrgh, we be aimin’ to seize the old city gem and feast and revel in that thar booty ‘til she come round again next year.”
The pirate coup, while startling to many of the local “landlubbers”, may actually match up with similar reported sightings from September 19th, 2007. Many reports of “swashbuckling scallywags” were submitted last year, centering around Houston Street, and many lunchtime patrons of the San Antonio Palm claimed that a “loud and lusty crew” accompanied their dining experience with “bonny jigs” and “lots of ‘Arrrgggh-ing.’”
“Aye, he be a good Cap’n, he be!” declares an anonymous sea wench. “I’ve worked with me fair share o’ scurvy dogs, but this one, he be a fine example o’ how to cap’n a brig and keep the scallywags in line…And, blimey, this crew, we be the finest swashbucklers e’er to sail the seas!”
National Pirate Day occurs on September 19th every year. The MyToons Crew invites you to celebrate National Pirate Day by visiting MyToons.com/PirateDay – and, of course, by dressing and speaking like a Pirate on September 19th every year.
