thanks for the comments on my movies! wish I could see more of this image (and your other stuff, I like your avatar but you only have 4 artworks uploaded! :) One crit I would mention is that the form seems pretty loose since there are no lines to give me an idea of the change in perspective. Cross-hatching in the direction of the plane changes would solve that problem. What I recommend is to start constructing out of cylinders and boxes to accurately place perspective lines and build upon the form. A great book to copy from which teaches perspective and basic construction is Preston Blair's "Cartoon Animation". 3D "programs" have been around since the 1500s - ancient masters like Leonardo DaVinci, Raphael, Michaelangelo, and Rembrandt had all mastered perspective to such a degree that they could envision anything from any angle they wished.
Just as a good musician must know the scales to play anything of their own, a good artist must subconsciously master the rules of perspective to make a 2D drawing feel like it exists in 3 dimensions. Perspective and construction has helped me more than anything in improving my ability to draw. GOOD LUCK!
