This is most likely my final submission for the TokyoFlash assignment. I have pretty much completely revamped the look of the time piece to give it a greater graphic nature rather than simply telling the time with numbers.
It still runs on the same "engine" but the method of telling the time has changed. Hopefully this has also taken care of the intensive actionscript problems that was crashing the browser after a while.
Strengths:
An original and interesting concept that maps time to a form of grid with web-like nodes in it. Demonstrates technical skills with actionscript.
Weaknesses:
Readability: The moving balls are small and diffficult to see against the intricate visual background. Usability: There is a learning curve and high degree of attention required to decipher the time.
Its currently 12:57 pm on my computer but the Grid is showing AM.
This much information would not fit on a watchface.
Opportunities:
Try reducing it to a watchface size and using a graphic language rather than numbers in some way.
The graphics could be used to make it more readable, or if that is not the main aim, then to make a stronger visual statement.
Overall:
A cool and novel idea, in line with the general tokyoflash brief, but needs more attention to readability, usability and visual style.
