First, I made all the traditional animation in multiple layers (paws, body and faces) of each character, then composed in after effects, using the tools to complemet the animation, overlaying them on the texture.
the first scene was made over an postal envelope to establish the present, then i´ve put the characters over the lined paper to make reference of a flashback.
that´s my process.

I really like the rough pencil style of the animation matched with the lined paper background. It works well together.
